Hixon Center for Sustainable Environmental Design
The Hixon Center for Sustainable Environmental Design at Harvey Mudd College was created in 2015 to initiate, support and coordinate college-wide programs and activities related to sustainability research, teaching and practice.
The Hixon Center promotes deep intellectual curiosity and scientific rigor in studying the complex interactions between human life and the natural environment. It raises awareness about humanity’s increasing footprint on critical ecosystem services and serves as a hub for students, faculty, staff and alumni to engage in collaborative discourse and actions to solve environmental problems on campus and beyond. With active participation across the entire community at Harvey Mudd and extending to the other Claremont Colleges and the world, the Hixon Center works to invigorate innovative thinking, scalable local action and global engagement, and to instill a high level of ethical and professional awareness in Harvey Mudd’s graduates concerning some of the most critical environmental challenges of our time. |
